Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter @ room temperature
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp each: ground cardamom, cinnamon & salt
  • 1 cup slivered almonds.

Directions
  1. Pre heat oven to 350*F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat butter with sugars until pale and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and blend well.
  3. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder spices and salt.
  4. Stir flour mixture into butter mixture until blended. Stir in almonds.
  5. Shape dough into 2 logs and flatten slightly. Bake 40mins.
  6. Remove and cut on bias and reduce heat to 325*F and return to oven for 15mins.
