How to make it

  • Empty a can of coconut milk into a saucepan.
  • Using the can as a measuring cup, add one canful of jasmine rice.
  • Add one canful of water, rinsing out any stuck rice.
  • Crush 2 stalks of lemon grass roughly by beating them with the handle of a knife, or some other heavy thing.
  • Drop the lemon grass into the pot as well.
  • Season to taste with nam pla (or use salt)
  • Simmer uncovered until the almost all the moisture is absorbed. Remove the lemon grass, and stir the rice gently until cooked and sticky. Remove from the heat, cover, and allow to steam for 5-10 min.
