Managing Finances...

I don't know about you, but when I was butt-deep in caring for my husband, the bills got stacked on the kitchen table and often ignored. And although letting your answering machine or voice mail screen all calls is basically a good thing, it did get to where bill collectors could easily be ignored as well.

One of the biggest favors you can do for yourself is to get all eligible bills on auto-pay. Just make sure that you've got sufficient money in the checking account to cover them, and sitting down and writing check and bills, and stuffing them into stamped envelopes will be one less headache you'll have to deal with.

Also, apply for a debit card. That way, along with the automatically paid bills, you'll have to write very few, if any, checks.

And last, but not least, apply for Online Banking, so that you can manage your accounts via computer.

As with any e-based business, encompassing all of this is the need for savvy security awareness. Educate yourself in the ways of keeping your information safe. You should check your accounts daily and update and reconcile your check log to make sure nothing odd is occurring, but I'm telling you for a fact that this was a huge factor in saving my sanity.

    Thoughts or suggestions?

Great ideas. When Tyler died, I spent two years with my head under a pillow and we got deeply into debt. Fred had to provide for us, take care of our daughter while I grieved. Now, he is mentally and physically challenged and it s my turn to carry the load. It is like digging a ditch with a teaspoon, but I'm plugging away at what we owe, little by little. I love on-line money management Also, make sure the advance directives and wills are updated, They should be reviewed periodically and changes made as circumstances change.

Just sitting here, thinking about you playing Solitaire and having a lovely glassa, whilst I write tomorrow's med sheets and do pill packs for the coming week. Hope you're having a peaceful evening, and that you are always able to resolve any obstacles your circumstances present.

I did a dish yesterday that I call Meatball Cacciatore... really simple, just open up a big jar of Prego spaghetti sauce and dump it into a 6 qt Dutch oven, then add about 2 to 2.5 lbs of frozen meatballs. Start cooking that over medium heat, and set the timer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. When the timer goes off, get another big pot of water going, and when it comes to the boil, add about half of a 16 oz bag of wide egg noodles. When the noodles are done, stir them into the sauce and meatballs. Voila!! All you need to add is some garlic bread (which I make out of Texas Toast). Easy peesy meal, yes?

Take care, and hope ya have a wonderful Sunday.
