Fruit powder

    Has anyone here tried replacing sugar with fruit powder (dried fruit ground into powder)?

    That's a fantastic idea. I have not tried that, but I might in the future. (I just got a dehydrator, mostly for the purpose of making fruit powders!) I don't know if all of the sugar in a recipe could be substituted, but perhaps at least part of it. Particularly, I would guess that it would great for making frostings (buttercream types, not the kind that has to solidify).
