In the early eighties the Potjie pronounced "poy key" craze took over in South Africa as an alternative to the traditional Braai (BBQ). In other parts of the world & ...More quot;Potjies" are also known as Dutch Ovens, but any large pot with a thick base and a lid should do. Dutch ovens come with a variety of stove names, shapes and sizes depending of region. In South Africa it is referred to as a Potjie. in the USA as Dutch ovens or camp ovens and in Europe as cast iron pots. There are literally hundreds of options and size combinations available, so it would be impractical for me to tell you which oven is the one for you. Because each type of oven is designed for a different type of cooking situation..
