Need dried soup mix recipes for crockpot

  • greatpaints 16 years ago
Hello, I am sending care packages over to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of the units have crockpots. I am trying to find or create recipes for soup mixes I can make and send to some of "my" boys.

Ingredients need to be shelf stable (ie dried or canned). So dried potatoes, beans, seasonings, dried onion flakes, boullion cubes and maybe a can of tomato paste, tuna or roast beef hash. The soldiers have no local source of veggies or meat so the soup mixes need to be complete. Ramen package base is okay. Pork products cannot be sent as they are forbidden. So no bacon in the potato soup. Few cans as I have to mail over everything needed, including the can-opener.

I have cross-posted this request in the camping foods group as well.

    Thank you for your help!

Hi Greatpaints! I have a recipe that might help with your care packages to the soldiers. It's Heloises generic cream soup base. If you included a small can of mushrooms, chicken, ham, etc, I think it would work:)

Oops I just realized the ham won't work. Maybe canned beef.
