Breast Of Chicken Mornay Casserole by Good4U

Delicious! The whole family loved it!
I served it with bow-ties mixed with petits pois and drizzled the extra sauce over the pasta-- which was super yummy!
I couldn't fit all the chicken breasts in my smaller casserole dish, but it looks like my larger pan was too big. The cheese melted off the ham and took the bread crumbs with it, so it might not look very pretty but it sure was tasty! Next time I will add the cheese to the sauce instead, and that would make it a true Mornay sauce. :)
The poultry seasoning adds some great flavor to the sauce and I don't think it needs anything else added to it. I thought, before making it, that I might want to add some mustard powder or Dijon, but it doesn't need anything unless you want a bigger kick. But you get that from the sharpness of the Swiss cheese.
I could see chopping up the chicken and ham and mixing it with the sauce before baking-- and serving that over pasta or egg noodles. Lot's of possibilities but as-is it's a great meal that we very much enjoyed! :)

Lovely lovely photos Shona. That looks so very good, i read the recipe and i would like to make it but i would have to do some changes. I like bow ties and i think any short pasta would work with this....YUM!!

Thanks Manella! I used lacto free milk and coffee cream in this. And the Swiss cheese I got said it was lacto-free too, President Choice brand (in the block not the pre-slices) Maybe all Swiss cheese is lacto-free?

Thanks Joce! Thanks for posting the recipe, it's delicious and I can't wait to make it again soon! :)

    Thanks Ladies :)

Lol Michelle! You were probably thinking of Croque Monsieur; or Croque Madame (but this is with chicken and not an egg). I wasn't sure what to serve this with, originally I thought of just a salad; but when I saw how much sauce there was I knew I had to make something to soak up the sauce---I thought of toast too but decided to cook up some bow ties last minute! :)
