Green Beans Italian Style

*Made for the March 2019 "Green" Challenge*

I have been wanting to make these for a long time! It's a lot different from the way I'm used to cooking green beans so I was skeptical. I thought the long cook time would yield mushy, overcooked beans, but not at all! They actually still had a slight crispness to them, and tasted wonderful! I did have to add more broth a couple of times during the cooking process. Love this new way of making green beans!!! Thanks Manella :) :)

Yum! I have never tried one of Manella's recipes that I didn't like! Thanks for the "heads up"! I will have to give it a try! :) Here is another green-beans recipe that I love and make all the time in the summer when I can get fresh produce from the farmers market: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/73470/greek-green-beans

Thank you Mommyluvs2cook, you really made my day. :))))You do have to keep checking to make sure they do need a bit more liquid.

Yummy picture Michelle! I'm going to have to venture this one someday (DH won't eat it though). I too am conditioned to cook vegetables quickly but if you say it works and Manella says it works then I'm sure it does.

Great photo, Mommyluvs2cook! Manella has some amazing recipes that never disappoint. You would think green beans would get mushy if you cook for a long time. It's one of those veggies that can simmer in a pot all day and they only get better.

Oh wow, that looks great Michelle! From your picture they still look crisp-tender and hold up in the dish. I would have thought the same thing, that they would get soggy. I guess you need a good fresh bean too, I hope to grow some in the garden this year--saving! :)
