Julie Metz subtitled Perfection "a memoir of betrayal and renewal" because she was betrayed multiple times by her husband
While investigating her husband's rampant infidelity (including an ongoing affair with one of her best friends), Metz confronts her own turbulent emotions — the grief, pain, anger and shame that preceded her ultimate renewal.

As the saying goes, revenge is best served cold, a nice chilled soup seems to be an ideal accompaniment for a discussion of the book.

Everyone knows about gazpacho, vichyssoise and borscht, but not many people in your group will have tried chilled zucchini soup with basil and walnuts, a cold soup that's simple and sumptuous. (It also provides an opportunity to use one of summer's most abundant vegetables.) Once you cook the zucchini, a blender or food processor does the rest of the work for you.

Desserts would work too. Illicit treats figure prominently in Perfection, after all. Visit the cookie aisle of the grocery story for classic Pepperidge Farm Milanos, or stop at a bakery for saucer-sized cookies. Serve with tea, strong decaf, or a shot of your favorite sinful liqueur.
