Help On Leeks & Chives Newbie Questions

Help on Leeks & Chives

I know this is lame, but Im pretty new at cooking. (other then canned or pre-made meals) I bookmarked a recipe that calls for leeks. I googled leeks for an image. Are these those long green/grass like onion things and arent they the same as chives? Oh, and another recipe called for scallions which I could not find in the store.

Leeks, chives and scallions are all in the onion family. Chives are more of a garnish than an ingredient to be cooked. Scallions can either be cooked or used as a garnish. Leeks are cooked........I don't cook scallions often unless it's an Asian dish but that's just me......Happy Cooking!!!!
