neighbor kids

OK, I have teens, and through the years their friends have come to our house and they are always welcome, but...when I offer food and a teen asks...what's in it, well...I put my attitude hat on and say...sweetheart, nothing...because if you're that picky, you're eating at your home.

Let me rework my last statement...as my son's friend is pulling out milk from our fridge.
My attitude has always been...if I cook it, then you can eat it or not..If you don't like what I cook then you will cook the next meal. My kids try everything once. If they don't like it, well, now we know.

See, I can completely relate to you and your battle with your teens and their friends. It'd be so nice to just say, "hey if u don't want to eat it then u can go hungry or fix something yourself!" Unfortunately my husband comes from a long line of women that spoil the heck out of their children, including cooking three different meals at dinner to satisfy everyone's picky taste. So, naturally, he's going to expect the same from me, and I'm too exhausted to keep up anymore! I refuse to make 2 different meals every time I cook dinner just to suit us both, I'd rather just eat what he eats...and boy does it get old after a while, I don't see how he does it!

Yeah, Even with my own kids, if they absolutly aren't going to eat it, they don't have tool. They'll just have to wait for the next meal.

I can understand about food allergies, so when we have people over, I often ask them if they have any kind of food allergies or what have you. This way I'm showing them that I care and don't wish to make them sick.

I see absolutly no point in making two meals. However, the exception can be made when you are going to be having a group of people over and the main dish is meat, and you know you are also having vegetarians over. Then you can serve a substitute along with it, but other wise, I really see no point. That's what we had to do for my daughters 3rd birthday party:)
