Russian Soup Recipe, NEEDED!!

  Hello!
  My Step-Dad's parents escaped from Russia. When we all married him, he taught Mom how to make a creamy soup, that had Cherry Dumplings in it. My Mom, being who she, is will not share the recipe with me. And my sweet Daddy is a long time in heaven, so he is unable to do so. IF, anyone knows this recipe, Please, please let me know it. I remember this fondly and would love to recreate it in his honor on his birthday...ie: Veterans Day, of which he is also one. So it's a double honor...
