Stovetop Granolas

I'm trying to perfect a stove-top granola recipe, but have the problem of it turning out gooey and not crisp. Any ideas?

What about starting off with less liquid from the beginning or maybe making the liquid part first then adding the dry ingredients like when you candy coated popcorn? The gray cells are thinking about this one for you!!

I've been playing around with ideas and tweaking what I have used before, and have come up with what works perfectly, at least here (pretty humid + high altitude). You can see my recipes if you'd like to try it. Basically I added toasting the oats first (well, okay, that's not stovetop - we bought a minioven last weekend) and also making the liquid part first and adding the dry. Plus I don't pay attention to how brown the oats are anymore, I just keep stirring til the liquid is dissolved from the bottom of the pan.
