Tex Mex Pizza Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed .
  • 1 (16 oz) can fat-free refried beans .
  • 1 medium onion, sliced .
  • 1 tbsp cornmeal .
  • 2 c reduced-fat Mexican cheese mix, shredded .
  • 2 c lettuce, shredded .
  • 1 (4 oz) can sliced green chilies .
  • 1/2 lb ground sirloin .
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced .
  • 1 garlic clove, minced .
  • 1 yellow sweet pepper, sliced .
  • 1 c salsa .
  • 2 tsps chili powder

Directions
  • Step #1 Coat two 12-inch pizza pans with nonstick cooking spray & sprinkle with cornmeal.
  • Step #2 Divide the bread dough in half & roll each portion into a 12-inch circle.
  • Step #3 Transfer to prepared pans & build up edges slightly.
  • Step #4 Prick dough thoroughly with a fork.
  • Step #5 Bake at 425F degrees for 12 mins or until slightly browned.
  • Step #6 Meanwhile, cook the beef, onion, in a skillet, yellow pepper, & garlic over med-heat/flame until the meat is no longer pink; drain.
  • Step #7 Stir in refried beans, chilies, salsa, & chili powder; heat through.
  • Step #8 Spread over the crusts; sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step #9 Bake 6-7 mins longer or until cheese is melted.
  • Step #10 Top with tomatoes & lettuce; serve as soon as possible.
