Step #5 add flavorings --
pour batter into a greased & floured bundt or tube pan.
Step #6 & bake this at 325* for 1 1/2 hrs.
Step #7 to prepare icing:.
Step #8 in a heavy saucepan, beaten egg, butter & milk --
put on low fire & let come to a slow boil --
in a small black iron skillet, mix 2 c sugar, melt remaining 1/2 c sugar & let cook this until brown & runny.
Step #9 add this to sugar mixture & continue to cook this until the temperature reaches the soft ball stage.
Step #10 238*.
Step #11 you must cook this slowly to prevent the milk from scorching.
Step #12 remove this from fire & let cool slightly.
Step #13 ; then add salt & flavorings.
Step #14 beat until icing reaches a spreading consistency.
