Step #1 Place the beef cubes & ham bone In a large-ish sauce pan with the sauerkraut, stock, & allspice.
Step #2 Bring to a boil, partially covered, then reduce heat & let simmer, for about 2 & 1/2 hrs over medium-low heat.
Step #3 Spice up with salt & pepper to taste.
Step #4 Remove allspice berries & bay leaves.
Step #5 When ready to serve, top this with a spoonful of thick sour cream, ladle into big bowls, & take to the table with chunks of rye bread & a bowl of sour cream to pass around the table.
