Cherry Truffle Squares Recipe

Ingredients
  • Topping .
  • 1 (10 oz) jar maraschino cherries, drained, sliced .
  • 3 tbsps light corn syrup .
  • 1/3 c semi-sweet chocolate chips .
  • 1 tbsp milk .
  • 2 tbsps shortening .
  • 1/4 c unsweetened cocoa .
  • Base .
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 1 (18 oz) package put in the fridged sugar cookie dough .
  • 1 c white chocolate chips .
  • Filling

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oven to 350.
  • Step #2 Cut cookie dough in half crosswise.
  • Step #3 Cut each section in half lengthwise.
  • Step #4 With floured fingers, press dough in bottom of ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan to form base.
  • Step #5 Bake at 350 for 12 to 16 mins or until light golden brown.
  • Step #6 Remove from oven.
  • Step #7 Cool 45 mins or until completely cool.
  • Step #8 In medium microwave safe bowl, mix chocolate chips & butter.
  • Step #9 Microwave on HIGH for 1 to 2 mins or until melted & smooth, stirring every 30 seconds.
  • Step #10 Add cocoa, corn syrup & milk; mix well.
  • Step #11 Add powdered sugar; mix until smooth.
  • Step #12 Press over cooled base.
  • Step #13 Top with cherries; carefully press into filling.
  • Step #14 In small microwave safe bowl, mix white chocolate chips & shortening.
  • Step #15 Microwave on HIGH for 1 to 2 mins or until melted & smooth, stirring every 30 seconds.
  • Step #16 Spoon & spread over filling.
  • Step #17 Refrigerate 20 mins or until set.
  • Step #18 Cut into squares or diamond shaped pieces.
  • Step #19 Garnish with chocolate shavings.
