Ingredients
1 lb large firm rip figs, stems trimmed, cut into 1/2-inch wedges .
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon .
2 tbsps sugar .
1/3 c sugar, plus .
1 c all-purpose flour .
1 tbsp fresh lime juice .
1 pinch salt .
vanilla ice cream .
powdered sugar .
1 lb peaches, peeled, halved, & cut into 1/2-inch wedges .
8 tbsps unsalted butter, cut into big chunks (chilled but not refrigerator hard) .
2 tbsps all-purpose flour
Directions
Step #1 Add the butter & 1/3 c sugar to a large bowl.
Step #2 Using an electric mixer, beat about 3 mins, or until well mixd.
Step #3 Add in 1 c flour & salt; beat on lowish speed just until the flour is incorporated; the mixture should be dry & crumbly.
Step #4 Scrape the flour from the bottom & edges of the bowl, pressing it into the pastry.
Step #5 The pastry should still be crumbly.
Step #6 Refrigerate the pastry until ready to use.
Step #7 Combine the peaches & figs in a big bowl.
Step #8 Add in the lime juice; toss to mix.
Step #9 In a smaller bowl, mix together the 2 tbsps flour & 2 tbsps sugar & the cinnamon; stir this to mix.
Step #10 Sprinke the cinnamon/sugar/flour mixture over the fruit.
Step #11 Fold carefully, just to mix without crushing the fruit.
Step #12 Spoon the fruit into a lightly buttered 1 1/2 to 2 quart shallow dish.
Step #13 Sprinkle top the cold pastry crumbs evenly over the fruit.
Step #14 Bake in a 350° oven for about 35 to 40 mins or the top is golden brown & the fruit bubbly.
Step #15 Let cool slightly.
Step #16 Sprinkle top with powdered sugar & serve warm with ice cream.
