Double Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 (1 oz) squares semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp red food coloring
  • 1 1/4 tsps baking powder

Directions
  • Step #1 Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, & salt together into a large bowl.
  • Step #2 Add the butter or margarine, milk, & vanilla to the dry ingredients in the bowl.
  • Step #3 Beat for 300F strokes, or for approximately 2 mins at lowish speed with an electric mixer.
  • Step #4 Add the eggs, melted chocolate, & red food coloring to the batter.
  • Step #5 Beat an extra 300F strokes or 2 mins at lowish speed.
  • Step #6 Pour into two greased & floured 8 inch layer pans.
  • Step #7 Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 30 to 35 mins, or until done.
