Flat Iron Steaks Grilled With Chili-citrus Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps garlic, finely minced .
  • 2 tsps lemon peel, grated .
  • 1/4 c fresh lemon juice .
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce .
  • 2 tsps kosher coarse salt .
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeds & veins removed .
  • 1 tsp pepper, freshly ground .
  • 2 tsps chili powder .
  • 2 tsps orange rind, grated .
  • 1/4 c olive oil .
  • 1 c fresh orange juice .
  • 1 tbsp chipotle chiles in adobo, sliced .
  • 24 oz flat iron steaks

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix all the ingredients except steak together In a large-ish zip lock plastic bag.
  • Step #2 Place the steaks in the bag & seal, turn so the steaks are coated on all sides.
  • Step #3 Place in put in the fridger for at leat 12 hrs or overnight.
  • Step #4 Turn the bag whenever you go.
  • Step #5 into the fridge.
  • Step #6 Remove steaks from the marinade, Pat steaks dry, discard marinade.
  • Step #7 Heat BBQ to medium heat.
  • Step #8 Grill steaks 4-6" from heat source, turn once 8-12 mins should produce medium rare steaks check with thermometer for exact inner temperature.
  • Step #9 Place on a plater, tent with foil wrap & let them rest 5 mins.
