French Meat Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 large onion, sliced .
  • 2 pie crusts .
  • 2 lbs ground turkey or ground beef or ground chicken .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper .
  • 2 tsps ground allspice .
  • 1 egg, beaten .
  • 1 tsp salt, adjust to taste .
  • 1 c mashed potatoes .
  • 2 tbsps oil

Directions
  • Step #1 Saute meat & onion in oil until no longer pink.
  • Step #2 Drain grease.
  • Step #3 Add potatoes & seasonings & mix well.
  • Step #4 Line pie pan with one crust & fill with meat mix.
  • Step #5 Top with second crust & pinch to seal.
  • Step #6 Cut slits in top of crust to vent.
  • Step #7 Brush crust with beaten egg & place filled pie pan on cookie sheet to catch any drips.
  • Step #8 Bake at 375F for 30-35 mins until crust is browned.

  • Step #10 If you prefer a more moist pie add some milk or cream to your mashed potatoes before adding to the filling.
  • Step #11 You could also tear a piece of bread or two & soak them in milk or broth & then add them to the meat mixture.
