Caramelized Sweet Onions & Bacon Tart Recipe

Ingredients
  • 8 c sweet onions, such as Vidalia .
  • 1 prepared pie crust, frozen .
  • 3 tsps unsalted butter .
  • salt & pepper .
  • 1/4 lb sliced bacon

Directions
  • Step #1 Keep the pie crust frozen.
  • Step #2 Cook bacon In a large-ish skillet over med-heat/flame until lightly browned.
  • Step #3 Halve & slice onions.
  • Step #4 Add butter & onions to the bacon in the skillet.
  • Step #5 Reduce heat to low & cook for about 60 mins, stirring every 5-10 mins, until onions have caramelized a nice light brown color.
  • Step #6 Remove from heat & add salt & pepper or other seasonings of your choice.
  • Step #7 Cover up & chill until cooled completely.
  • Step #8 Set your oven temperature to 425°F.
  • Step #9 Fill frozen crust with chilled onion mixture.
  • Step #10 Bake for 20 to 25 mins.
  • Step #11 Remove from oven & cool for about 30 mins.
  • Step #12 Serve warm or at about room temp.
