Bev's Classic French Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract .
  • 2 egg yolks .
  • 2/3 c sugar .
  • 2 c heavy cream .
  • 1 c half-and-half

Directions
  • Step #1 In a saucepan, beat egg yolks with whisk; add sugar & continue beating until thick.
  • Step #2 Stir in half & half; heat & stir until thickened.
  • Step #3 Remove from heat & cool.
  • Step #4 Stir in heavy cream & vanilla extract; cover & chill in refrigerator an hr until needed.
  • Step #5 Pour into ice cream maker & process according to your machine's direction.
  • Step #6 Makes about 1 quart.
