Czech Stuffed Green Peppers Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 8 green bell peppers
  • 1 c cooked rice
  • 1 eggs
  • 1/3 c vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 c sour cream
  • 2 (28 oz) cans whole peeled tomatoes
  • 3 whole allspice berries
  • 3 whole peppercorns
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp sliced fresh parsley
  • 2 lbs lean ground beef

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Cut tops off of peppers, & remove seeds & membranes from inside.
  • Step #3 In a skillet over med-heat/flame, saute 1 sliced onion until tender.
  • Step #4 In a large bowl, sauteed onion, mix ground beef, cooked rice & eggs.
  • Step #5 Spice up with parsley, salt & pepper.
  • Step #6 Mix well, & stuff into peppers.
  • Step #7 Place in a large roasting pan.
  • Step #8 Heat oil in a large saucepan over med-heat/flame, Saute 2 sliced onions until soft & translucent.
  • Step #9 Stir in tomatoes.
  • Step #10 Spice up with peppercorns, ground allspice, marjoram, oregano, allspice berries, salt & pepper.
  • Step #11 Cook on medium heat for 15 to 20 mins.
  • Step #12 Pour over peppers in roasting pan.
  • Step #13 Cover, & bake in preheated oven for 1 1/2 hrs.
  • Step #14 Remove peppers, & transfer sauce to a mixer, or use a hand mixer.
  • Step #15 Puree sauce until smooth.
  • Step #16 Pour sauce back into pan, & reheat.
  • Step #17 Whisk in sour cream just before serving.
