3 Points - Viennese Angel Food Cake With Latte Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 5 tbsps sugar-free Cafe Vienna coffee powder (General Foods International) .
  • 1 c skim milk .
  • 2 tsps sugar .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 1 (8 oz) package angel food cake mix

Directions
  • Step #1 To make cake, prepare angel food cake mix according to package directions but stir 2 tbsps of coffee powder into cake mix; bake as directed.
  • Step #2 Remove cake from oven & follow directions for cooling.
  • Step #3 When completely cool, slice into 12 pieces.
  • Step #4 To make sauce, sugar & milk in a small saucepan; bring to a simmer, mix remaining 3 tbsps of coffee powder, stirring constantly.
  • Step #5 Beat egg in a heatproof bowl.
  • Step #6 Pour about 1/4 c of milk mixture into egg, beating constantly.
  • Step #7 Pour egg mixture back into saucepan.
  • Step #8 Cook over very low heat, stirring constantly until slightly thickened, about 5 mins.
  • Step #9 Serve sauce as soon as possible over cake.
  • Step #10 3 Points Yields 1 slice of cake & about 1 1/4 tbsps of sauce per serving.
