Panko Fried Green Tomatoes And Mushrooms Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c mushrooms, sliced .
  • 4 slices green tomatoes (1/2 inch thick) .
  • 1 tsp hot sauce .
  • 2 tbsps vegetable oil (I like lite Olive oil) .
  • 1/4 c flour (apprx) .
  • salt & pepper .
  • 1/4 c milk .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1 egg .
  • 1 1/2 c panko (apprx)

Directions
  • Step #1 Brown the mushrooms in a heated skillet with the butter, remove mushrooms when they are browned & set aside.
  • Step #2 Beat the egg, milk & hot sauce together.
  • Step #3 Mix some salt & pepper with the Panko crumbs.
  • Step #4 Lightly dust the tomato slices with flour.
  • Step #5 Dip the dusted slices of tomato into the egg & then the crumbs, coating both sides.
  • Step #6 Heat oil over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #7 Brown one side of the slices, flip, add mushrooms back into the pan & brown the other side - total time for tomatoes 7 mins.
