Yummy Meatball Cabbage Rolls (crock Pot) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 large head of cabbage, cored .
  • 2 tbsps chili powder .
  • 1 lb ground beef .
  • 1 small onion, sliced .
  • garlic powder, to taste .
  • 1/3 c uncooked long grain rice .
  • 24 oz tomato sauce, divided .
  • salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook cabbage in boiling water only until the outer leaves fall off the head, about 3 mins.
  • Step #2 Remove cabbage from water & removed as many leaves as will come off easily.
  • Step #3 Reserve 14-16 large leaves for rolls.
  • Step #4 Return cabbage to water if more leaves are needed.
  • Step #5 Remove the thick vein from each leaf.
  • Step #6 In a bowl, mix 8 oz.
  • Step #7 of tomato sauce, chili powder, onion, rice, salt & garlic powder.
  • Step #8 Crumble beef over mixture; mix well.
  • Step #9 Shape into 2 inch balls.
  • Step #10 Place one meatball on each cabbage leaf; fold in sides.
  • Step #11 Starting at an unfolded edge, roll up leaf to completely enclose meatball.
  • Step #12 Secure with toothpicks.
  • Step #13 Place in a 5 quart slow cooker (aka crockpot).
  • Step #14 Pour remaining tomato sauce over rolls; cover & cook on low for 7-8 hrs or until meat is no longer pink & cabbage is tender.
  • Step #15 Discard toothpicks.
