Doug's Killer Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 (4.5 oz) can sliced mushrooms
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced, divided
  • 4 (29 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 lb lean ground pork
  • 1 onion, sliced, divided
  • 2 tbsps Italian seasoning
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, sliced
  • salt to taste
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp dried basil leaves, crushed

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large stock pot over med-heat/flame, brown the ground beef, pork & onion.
  • Step #2 Drain fat, & return to the heat.
  • Step #3 Stir in the garlic, mushrooms, green & red pepper, & tomato sauce.
  • Step #4 Stir in basil, oregano, bay leaves, Italian seasoning, & red pepper flakes.
  • Step #5 Salt & pepper to taste.
  • Step #6 Bring sauce to a boil.
  • Step #7 Cover & reduce heat to low.
  • Step #8 Let simmer for at least one hr; preferably all day.
