Onion, Date, And Brie Crostini Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 c thinly sliced onion
  • 1/4 c sliced pitted dates
  • 4 oz sliced Brie or Camembert cheese
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tsps sugar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsps finely sliced fresh rosemary
  • 2 tsps balsamic vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 24 (1/2-inch-thick) slices diagonally cut French bread baguette (about 12 oz)
  • 1 tsp butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat broiler.
  • Step #2 Arrange bread in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  • Step #3 Broil 2 mins on each side or until toasted.
  • Step #4 Lower oven temperature to 300°.
  • Step #5 Melt butter In a large-ish nonstick skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #6 Add onion & next 4 ingredients (through garlic); cook 10 mins or until onion is translucent, stirring frequently.
  • Step #7 Increase the heat to medium-high; sauté 4 mins or until onion begins to brown.
  • Step #8 Add sugar; sauté 2 mins.
  • Step #9 Stir in vinegar & Worcestershire; remove this from heat.
  • Step #10 Add dates & cheese; stir until mixd.
  • Step #11 Top each toast with about 2 tsps onion mixture.
  • Step #12 Bake at 300° for 4 mins or until cheese melts.
