Smoked Salmon With Crème Fraîche Sauce On Shallot Toasts Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c sliced fresh dill
  • 3 tbsps Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 c creme fraîche or sour cream
  • 4 lemons, halved & sliced
  • 2 loaves thinly sliced white bread
  • 4 shallots, peeled & halved
  • 1 side presliced smoked salmon (about 1 1/2 lbs)

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine the creme fraîche, dill, mustard, & salt.
  • Step #2 Cover up & put in the fridge up to 1 day ahead.
  • Step #3 Heat broiler.
  • Step #4 Arrange the bread slices on baking sheets.
  • Step #5 Toast until lightly browned; turn & toast the other sides.
  • Step #6 Remove from oven & rub 1 side of the toasts with a cut shallot.
  • Step #7 Cut each slice into 4 triangles.
  • Step #8 Serve with the salmon, toasts, sauce, & lemon slices.
  • Step #9 Note: Salmon is expensive, but it's elegant when served on a big platter & guests make their own open-face sandwiches.
  • Step #10 Mix leftover salmon & sauce with cooked spaghetti the next day.
