Hot Mushroom Turnovers Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c sour cream
  • 1 (8-oz) package fresh mushrooms, minced
  • 3 tbsps butter or margarine
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 3/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme

Directions
  • Step #1 Beat cream cheese & 1/2 c butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; slowly add flour, beating well.
  • Step #2 Divide dough in half, & shape each portion into a ball; cover & chill 1 hr.
  • Step #3 Melt 3 tbsps butter In a large-ish skillet.
  • Step #4 Add mushrooms & onion; saute until tender.
  • Step #5 Stir in sour cream & next 3 ingredients; set aside.
  • Step #6 Roll 1 dough portion to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface; cut with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter, & place on greased baking sheets.
  • Step #7 Repeat procedure with remaining dough.
  • Step #8 Spoon 1 tsp mushroom mixture onto half of each dough circle.
  • Step #9 Moisten edges with beaten egg, & fold dough over filling.
  • Step #10 Press edges with a fork to seal; prick tops.
  • Step #11 Brush turnovers with beaten egg.
  • Step #12 Bake at 450° for 8 to 10 mins or until golden.
