Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 8 (1/2-inch-thick) slices green tomato (about 4 tomatoes)

Directions
  • Step #1 Sprinkle top 1 side of each tomato slice evenly with salt & pepper.
  • Step #2 Dredge seasoned sides in cornmeal.
  • Step #3 Heat the oil In a large-ish skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #4 Add tomato slices, coated sides down; cook 6 mins, turning after 3 mins.
  • Step #5 Serve as soon as possible.
