Brie-and-sausage Breakfast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 c fat-free milk
  • 1 tbsp sliced fresh sage or 1 tsp dried rubbed sage
  •  Garnishes: sliced green onions, shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lb ground hot pork sausage
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 3 c whipping cream, divided
  • 1 (8-oz) round Brie*
  • 6 white sandwich bread slices
  • 1 c grated Parmesan cheese
  • 7 large eggs, divided

Directions
  • Step #1 Trim rind from Brie, & discard; cut cheese into cubes, & set aside.
  • Step #2 Cook sausage In a large-ish skillet over medium-high heat, stirring until it crumbles & is no longer pink; drain well.
  • Step #3 Cut crusts from bread slices, & place crusts evenly in bottom of a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish.
  • Step #4 Layer evenly with bread slices, Brie, sausage, & Parmesan cheese.
  • Step #5 Whisk together 5 eggs, 2 c whipping cream, & next 4 ingredients; pour evenly over cheeses.
  • Step #6 Cover up & chill mixture for 8 hrs.
  • Step #7 Whisk together remaining 2 eggs & remaining 1 c whipping cream; pour evenly over chilled mixture.
  • Step #8 Bake at 350° for 1 hr or until casserole is set.
  • Step #9 Garnish, if desired.
  • Step #10 * 2 c (8 oz) shredded Swiss cheese may be substituted.
