Ingredients
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 c pitted black olives, coarsely sliced
2 tbsps drained capers
4 oz thick-sliced prosciutto or ham, sliced
1/4 c sliced parsley
1/2 tsp salt
6 large eggs
1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese
1 can (14 1/2 oz.) sliced tomatoes
3 c milk
1/2 c grated parmesan cheese
1 loaf (1 lb.) crusty, Italian-style bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/4 c sliced canned roasted red peppers
2 tsps dried Italian seasoning mix
1/4 c thinly sliced green onions
Directions
Step #1 Spread half the bread cubes level in a lightly oiled 9- by 13-inch baking dish.
Step #2 Top evenly with prosciutto, green onions, peppers, & parmesan cheese.
Step #3 Spread remaining bread cubes level on top, olives, followed by tomatoes, & mozzarella.
Step #4 In a bowl, milk, salt, Italian seasoning, whisk eggs, & pepper to mix.
Step #5 Pour over layered ingredients.
Step #6 Cover up & chill at least 1 hr or up to one day.
Step #7 Bake in a 325° regular or convection oven until center of strata is set & top is lightly browned, 40 to 50 mins.
Step #8 Sprinkle top evenly with parsley & capers.
Step #9 Let stand 10 mins, then cut into squares.
Step #10 Serve warm or at about room temp.
