Spiced Oatmeal Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 c regular rolled oats
  • 3 c 4- or 7-grain cereal flakes or coarsely ground hot cereal
  • 1 c sliced walnuts
  • 2 tbsps ground cinnamon
  • 1 c sliced dried dates
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 c sliced dried apples
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 c firmly packed brown sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large container (at least 2 1/2 qt.
  • Step #2 ) with a lid, turmeric, walnuts, dates, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, mix oats, apples, 4-grain cereal, & cloves.
  • Step #3 For each serving, in a 1- to 2-quart pan, bring 1 c water to a boil over high heat.
  • Step #4 (Or, in a microwave oven in a 2- to 3-c bowl or glass measuring c, heat 1 c water on full power [100%] until boiling, about 2 mins.
  • Step #5 ) Stir in 3/4 c spiced oatmeal mix.
  • Step #6 Remove from heat, & let this stand for 5 to 10 mins, cover, until it's as thick as you like.
