Lentil Soup With Spinach And Lemon (ads Bi Hamud) Recipe

Ingredients
  • fresh ground black pepper, to taste .
  • 4 tbsps oil .
  • 1 1/2 lemons, juice of .
  • 375 g green lentils, soaked for 1 hr .
  • salt, to taste .
  • 2 onions, cut in half then sliced thinly .
  • 1 tbsp plain flour .
  • 6 garlic cloves, sliced .
  • 1 kg spinach

Directions
  • Step #1 Wash & drain the lentils, to taste, adding salt & pepper, place them in a pan with water to cover & let simmer for 30 mins or until they are very tender, towards the end of the cooking time.
  • Step #2 Wash the spinach thoroughly, remove the stems, chop the leaves coarsely, & add them to the lentils.
  • Step #3 Sauté the onions & garlic in oil until soft, add the flour & stir well.
  • Step #4 Add a c of water & stir until this sauce thickens; then pour the sauce into the soup.
  • Step #5 Add the lemon juice & more water, if necessary, & let simmer until the soup is thick.
  • Step #6 Serve very hot.
