Cheesy Easy Cavatini * Venison Optional Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb ground pork or bulk sausage .
  • 1 (4 oz) can green chili peppers (optional) .
  • 2 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese .
  • 2 c shell pasta, cooked & drained .
  • 2 c shredded mozzarella cheese .
  • 1 (4 oz) can mushrooms, stem & pieces drained .
  • 2 c rotini pasta, cooked & drained .
  • 1 lb ground venison or ground beef .
  • 1 tbsp mixed Italian herbs (basil, oregano, parsley for starters) .
  • 1 (28 oz) can spaghetti sauce (or 1 quart home-made) .
  • 3 1/2 oz pepperoni, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Boil pasta according to package instructions, drain & pour this into 13x9 pan.
  • Step #2 While pasta is cooking, brown the meats; sprinkle with herbs, mixing well.
  • Step #3 Remove from heat.
  • Step #4 Mix spaghetti sauce (I use half home-made canned sauce & half from a store-can) with meat; add mushrooms & peppers; pour over pasta in pan.
  • Step #5 Sprinkle top on the grated cheeses.
  • Step #6 Cover up with foil wrap or lid; bake for 30 mins; remove foil wrap & bake for 10-15 mins more (crusty & bubbly).
  • Step #7 VARIATION: Add sliced black olives.
  • Step #8 VARIATION #2: Use leftover spaghetti-meat sauce.
