Tied Up In Garlic Knots Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 lb fresh bread dough (if using frozen bread dough, thaw first) .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 2 tbsps unsalted butter .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced (go ahead & add more if you prefer) .
  • 1/8 tsp salt, plus

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat the olive oil & butter over low-medium heat until butter is melted.
  • Step #2 Add garlic & 1/8 tsp of the salt.
  • Step #3 Cook 3-4 mins to infuse.
  • Step #4 BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN, stirring constantly! Lower heat if necessary.
  • Step #5 Set aside.
  • Step #6 Roll out the bread dough on a floured surface to a 12 inch by 10 inch rectangle.
  • Step #7 Cut the dough horizontally into 12 strips, then cut in half down the center vertically.
  • Step #8 You will have a total of 24, 5 inch by 1 inch strips.
  • Step #9 Tie each strip into a knot stretching dough [slightly] to aid in tying.
  • Step #10 Transfer the knots to two large baking sheets.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top with the remaining 1/4 tsp salt.
  • Step #12 Cover up knots with a clean flour sacking towel & proof in a warm place to rise for 30 mins.
  • Step #13 Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #14 Uncover the knots & brush each one with a small amount of the garlic-butter sauce.
  • Step #15 Bake for about 20 mins, rotating pans at the halfway mark.
  • Step #16 Once baked, as soon as possible transfer to a large bowl & toss with the remaining garlic-butter sauce.
