Christopher's Secret Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 green pepper or red pepper, finely sliced .
  • 500 g lean ground beef .
  • 3 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1 tsp fresh ground pepper .
  • 1 (284 ml) can sliced mushrooms, drained .
  • 1/3 c sweet & sour sauce (preferred brand VH) .
  • 1 (156 ml) can tomato paste .
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced .
  • 2 bay leaves .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 (796 ml) can tomato sauce .
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced .
  • 2 tsps oregano

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat olive oil In a large-ish fry pan.
  • Step #2 Add meat, garlic, onion & green pepper.
  • Step #3 Cook until meat is browned & onions translucent.
  • Step #4 Drain excess fat.
  • Step #5 Transfer mixture to a large pot.
  • Step #6 Add all other ingredients.
  • Step #7 Lower heat, cover pot & let simmer 1 hr.
  • Step #8 (I give it only 1/2 hr if I'm rushed).
  • Step #9 Remove cover, or keep partially covered for another 30 mins, until sauce reaches desired consistency.
  • Step #10 Should it become too thick, add some water or dry red wine.
  • Step #11 Remove bay leaves & pour the sauce over cooked spaghetti.
