Old Fashioned Pan Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c milk, scalded .
  • 1/2 c butter, cut into pieces .
  • 1/2 c warm water (105 - 115) .
  • 6-6 1/2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 c butter, melted .
  • 1 1/2 tsps salt .
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • 2 packages active dry yeast .
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large bowl, pour milk over ½ c butter.
  • Step #2 Stir every once in awhile until butter is melted.
  • Step #3 Meanwhile, sprinkle yeast & ¼ t.
  • Step #4 sugar over water.
  • Step #5 Let stand 5 mins or until foamy.
  • Step #6 Stir remaining sugar, eggs, salt & yeast mixture into milk mixture.
  • Step #7 Stir in 4 c of the flour & beat until smooth.
  • Step #8 Gradually stir in the remaining flour to make soft dough.
  • Step #9 Cover up, let rest for 10 mins.
  • Step #10 On a lightly floured surface, knead for 8-10 mins or until no longer sticky, adding as little extra flour as possible.
  • Step #11 Divide dough in half.
  • Step #12 Place half of dough into a greased bowl.
  • Step #13 Turn to coat surface.
  • Step #14 Cover up & put in the fridge.
  • Step #15 Shape remaining dough into 12 2-inch balls.
  • Step #16 Place on a greased 9 x 1 ½ inch round pan.
  • Step #17 Cover up & let rise in a warm place, free from drafts, until almost doubled- about 55 mins.
  • Step #18 Bake in pre-heated 375° oven for 25-30 mins or until browned.
  • Step #19 Brush with butter.
  • Step #20 Cool on a wire rack.
  • Step #21 To bake put in the fridged dough: follow shaping, rising & baking instructions, allowing about 1 hr & 45 mins for rising.
