Classic Chili Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 medium green pepper, sliced
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 (28 oz) cans tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 1 c water
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c sliced celery
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 (16 oz) cans kidney beans, rinsed & drained
  • 2 tbsps Worcestershire sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 In a Dutch oven or large soup kettle, saute green pepper, onions & celery in oil until tender, about 5 mins.
  • Step #2 Add ground beef & cook this until browned; drain.
  • Step #3 Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, Worcestershire sauce & seasonings.
  • Step #4 Bring to a boil; reduce heat.
  • Step #5 Cover & let simmer for 1-1/2 hrs, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #6 Add kidney beans.
  • Step #7 Simmer, uncovered, 10 mins longer.
