Step #1 Cream butter & sugar.
Step #2 Add well beaten egg.
Step #3 Sift flour & spices.
Step #4 Add raisins & nuts.
Step #5 Mix together nuts & raisins in flour.
Step #6 Slowly add flour, nuts & raisins to egg, spice, butter & sugar.
Step #7 Add quickly baking soda dissolved in hot water.
Step #8 Mix well until all liquid comes together.
Step #9 Drop from spoon on greased pan.
Step #10 Bake 10 mins at 350.
Step #11 Watch, till slightly browning on the bottom edge.
Step #12 These might take a tad longer in your oven, mine cooks high.
Step #13 This is just a guesstimate because Grandma just had Bake as the next instruction so time & heat was a guess for me.
Step #14 They are nice & soft & I have double the recipe without any problems.
