Ingredients
1 (1 oz) square unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp peppermint extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c shortening
1 1/4 c all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 egg
3/4 c sugar
Directions
Step #1 In a mixing bowl, cream shortening & sugar.
Step #2 Add egg, milk & extract; mix well.
Step #3 Combine the flour, salt & baking powder; slowly add to creamed mixture.
Step #4 Divide dough in half.
Step #5 Add chocolate to one portion; mix well.
Step #6 Roll each portion between waxed paper into a rectangle about 1/2 in.
Step #7 thick.
Step #8 Remove top sheet of waxed paper; place plain dough over chocolate dough.
Step #9 Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side.
Step #10 Wrap in plastic warp; put in the fridge for 2 hrs or until firm.
Step #11 Unwrap dough & cut into 1/4-in.
Step #12 slices.
Step #13 Place 2 in.
Step #14 apart on greased baking sheets.
Step #15 Bake at 375 degrees F for 8-10 mins or until lightly browned.
Step #16 Remove to wire racks to cool.
