Light And Fluffy Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps sugar .
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar .

  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 tbsp baking powder .
  • 3/4 c buttermilk .
  • 1/2 c butter, chilled plus 1/2 stick, melted .
  • 2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Step #2 Sift together flour, cream of tartar, sugar, baking powder, baking soda & salt into a bowl.
  • Step #3 Cut in the 1 stick of chilled butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step #4 Make a well in center of flour mixture; add buttermilk all at once & stir just until dough clings together.
  • Step #5 Gently knead dough about 10-12 times on a floured surface.
  • Step #6 Pat dough out to 1/2 inch think.
  • Step #7 Cut dough with a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter or a glass.
  • Step #8 Dredge buiscuits in the 1/2 stick melted butter.
  • Step #9 Bake for 10-12 mins, until golden.
