Chocolate Pinwheel Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp chocolate sprinkles, if desired (optional) .
  • 3 c Gold Medal all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 egg .
  • 1 1/2 c powdered sugar .
  • 1/4 c unsweetened baking cocoa .
  • 1 1/4 c butter or margarine, softened .
  • 1 tbsp chocolate sprinkles, if desired (optional)

Directions
  • Step #1 In large bowl, beat powdered sugar, butter & egg with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon.
  • Step #2 Stir in flour & salt.
  • Step #3 Divide dough in half.
  • Step #4 Stir cocoa into one half.
  • Step #5 Stir chocolate sprinkles into other half.
  • Step #6 Cover up & put in the fridge 1 hr.
  • Step #7 Roll half of plain dough into 9x8-inch rectangle on lightly floured surface.
  • Step #8 Repeat with half of chocolate dough; place on plain dough.
  • Step #9 Roll doughs up together tightly, beginning at long side.
  • Step #10 Repeat with remaining plain & chocolate doughs.
  • Step #11 Wrap & put in the fridge at least 8 hrs but no longer than 24 hrs.
  • Step #12 Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Step #13 Cut rolls into 1/4-inch slices.
  • Step #14 Place slices about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step #15 Bake 8 to 10 mins or until set.
  • Step #16 Immediately remove this from cookie sheet to wire rack.
  • Step #17 Wrap cookies tightly, label & freeze up to 6 months.
