Sweet Thai Roti Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c ice cold water .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • sweetened condensed milk, for drizzling .
  • 1 tbsp melted butter .
  • 2 c wheat flour .
  • 1 egg .
  • oil (for frying) .
  • sugar, for sprinkling

Directions
  • Step #1 Sift the flour into a hill on a clean surface.
  • Step #2 Make a well in the middle & add in egg, melted butter, ice water & salt.
  • Step #3 Use your hand to incorporate the mixture into a dough.
  • Step #4 Knead until the dough is soft & form into balls about the size of a duck's egg.
  • Step #5 Roll lightly in oil & let rest for three hrs.
  • Step #6 When you are ready to make the roti, roll each ball of dough as thin as it will go, forming a flat disk.
  • Step #7 Make a pile as you go.
  • Step #8 Warm frying pan at high heat.
  • Step #9 Add in oil.
  • Step #10 Place in the roti, flatten with heavy plate if it puffs up.
  • Step #11 Fry until light golden brown on both sides.
  • Step #12 Remove the roti from the pan, sprinkle with a little sugar & drizzle with the sweetened condensed milk.
