Layered Potato Bake (rakott Burgonya) Recipe

Ingredients
  • salt .
  • 100 g ham, off bone or smoked pork sausage .
  • 1 kg medium potatoes (desiree's) .
  • 2 tbsps dried breadcrumbs .
  • 6 eggs .
  • grated cheese .
  • 100 g streaky bacon, unsliced .
  • 2 c sour cream .
  • 1 tbsp butter

Directions
  • Step #1 boil potatoes in salted water until cooked ( iprefer to peel them first but you can peel them after boiling).
  • Step #2 hard boil 5 eggs.
  • Step #3 dice bacon finely & fry.
  • Step #4 drain off fat.
  • Step #5 cut ham into 5mm squares or sausage slice into coins.
  • Step #6 spoon sour cream into a jar & break in 1 egg & beat lightly with fork.
  • Step #7 coat bottom of casserole dish with butter & sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
  • Step #8 slice potatoes into 5mm thick rounds shell eggs & slice with egg slicer.
  • Step #9 preheat your trusty oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Step #10 place one layer of potatoes on bottom of pan sprinkle with salt.
  • Step #11 follow with layer of eggs then layer of ham & bacon or sliced sausage.
  • Step #12 spoon over third of sour cream mixture.
  • Step #13 repeat until all used.
  • Step #14 leaving enough potatoes for top layer.
  • Step #15 sprinkle grated cheese on top & bake for 30 min.
