British Mushroom Gravy Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 oz butter .
  • 4 oz sliced mushrooms .
  • 1 bouillon cube, any flavour .
  • 300F ml hot water .
  • 2 tbsps cornflour, mixed with a little cold water to make a slurry .
  • 1 small onion, finely sliced .
  • salt & black pepper, to taste

Directions
  • Step #1 Melt the butter in a small saucepan.
  • Step #2 Add the onion & mushrooms & fry carefully until really well-browned - this will give colour & flavour to the gravy.
  • Step #3 Dissolve the stock cube in the hot water & add to the saucepan.
  • Step #4 Add the mixed cornflour & heat, stirring constantly, until thickened & smooth.
