Bierocks - German Pasty Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 c bread flour .
  • 1 c whole wheat flour .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1/2 tsp pepper .
  • 1 c warm water .
  • 1/2 head cabbage, shredded .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 tsp yeast .
  • 2 tbsps oil .
  • 1 tbsp italian seasoning .
  • 1 (14 oz) can tomato sauce .
  • 1/2 onion, sliced .
  • 1 tbsp sugar .
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef

Directions
  • Step #1 For dough:.
  • Step #2 In a bread machine add first 7 ingredients & set to 1lb dough cycle.
  • Step #3 For filling:.
  • Step #4 Brown beef & onions.
  • Step #5 Drain.
  • Step #6 Add cabbage & seasonings to beef & saute until tender.
  • Step #7 Add tomato sauce & let simmer 10 mins.
  • Step #8 Divide dough into 4 small dough balls.
  • Step #9 Take one dough ball & roll out onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Step #10 Place 1/4 meat mixture in the center of the rolled out dough.
  • Step #11 Fold over & pinch edges to seal.
  • Step #12 Place each pasty onto a nonstick cookie sheet & bake this at 375F for 25-30 mins or until golden brown.
