Steamed Barley Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c water .
  • 1 c pot barley

Directions
  • Step #1 Place barley & water in medium sauce pan, stirring once to even out barley.
  • Step #2 Heat uncovered on high until just boiling (about 5 mins).
  • Step #3 Stir once more, cover & reduce to simmer for 20 to 30 mins (do not over cook as barley will stick to anything!).
  • Step #4 Most importantly, toss barley to release steam & get air to every grain.
  • Step #5 This will keep it from sticking.
  • Step #6 Now you can use it instead of rice in almost any dish, & add a bit of fibre to your diet.
  • Step #7 NOTE: Barley can absorb even more liquid than this, so you can add it to soup, or make a gravy with it.
